Just last month (Dec 2024) my painting, “Break Bread” was part of the HOME Exhibition (Curated by Siona Peterous) at Creative Grounds!

I was focused on making pieces surrounding memories and I thought about how as kids, we would do gimp (lanyards, boondoggle, I’ve learned from the internet that this craft has quite a few names) and I wanted to make something that took me back to childhood.
Lately, I meditate on questions like “How do I time travel without modern tech?” and I realized…we kinda do it all the time? Maybe not in the “innovative” way (this is me using innovative as a slur, btw) we’d like to do it, but memories do serve us similarly.
Anyways, I came up with a curtain made of gimp, and boyyyy is it working my hands! I feel like this will function as a physical portal of sorts. Maybe I’ll have people walk through it? This will eventually pair with other works I have that focus on the theme of nostalgia, reflection, and chasing moments in time…
